Kaci Rose describes this novel as a steamy, gentle giant, mountain man romance. She ensures us there is no cliffhangers. And she promises us a HEA. I can attest that all of this true!
My summary of the story:
While Emelie and her boyfriends are hiking/ camping in the mountains her bf decides to pack everything in the site up and dip out leaving Emelie to fend for herself without any means of survival. She decides to head back to the parkway where she is hoping the bf is waiting but takes a wrong turn [No not like the horror films] and that leads her to a river where a massively beautiful [at least that is what my imagination is leading me to believe] man is bathing in the river, and he ends up healing Emelie by taking her to his cabin because there is a massive storm moving overhead and it washes out the roads.
While they are stuck in the cabin together each of them begins to catch feelings for one other and they fall in love. All the while the poor man [Axel] is thinking he is going to lose Emelie, that she doesn't want to live like him and that she could never want to be with him [he performed the greatest act of self-destruction] Then her boyfriend shows up on Axel's door wanting Emelie back and then calling the cops on Axel saying he kidnapped her and blah blah she's like that's a lie I love Axel. And then basically the story ends with her moving in with him and living out her life, I think in the end they have a couple of kids.
Final thoughts and ratings
All in all, if you need a quick small-town romance this is a good one to go to. I finished it within a few hours of starting it.
Reading rate: 3.5 stars [I just felt like she left a lot of room for something more]
Spice rate: 3 stars [I don't know I just wasn't feeling it all]
