'Hungry for the Wolf' By Kate Rudolph

Blurb:
Bryan has one job: to keep Kerry safe.
When Bryan's assigned to guard Kerry before she testifies in a high-profile case, he expects it to be a simple job. Falling for her is against every rule, but no shifter can deny the mate bond.
Kerry Delgado is anything but simple.
When the bullets and fur start flying, Bryan discovers that he and Kerry have far more in common than he imagined. His wolf demands he does everything possible to keep her safe, but she’s tangled up with dangerous men. And she may hold the key to the mystery of his pack's existence.
He's supposed to be a regular bodyguard, even if he's a werewolf. But when there's magic involved, nothing is simple. And if Bryan wants to claim Kerry as his own, he'll need to unravel the mystery before it's too late and he loses everything.

12.22.22: My thoughts on what I have read thus far (Disclaimer! I haven't read the first three books, so this review may need a lot of revising if I need to read the other three before this one, we shall see.) Now, back to my thoughts on what I am thinking thus far!
Chapter One: We are with Kerry, the MFC, through this chapter. It started off slowly. We are placed in a setting a year before the rest of the story. (It is written in the third person, which I appreciate) From my first impressions, I am not the biggest fan of the writing, as it is more modern than I like in my books. But that is a personal preference, so if that doesn't apply to you, move along. All hell breaks loose within the middle of this chapter, and Kerry is caught in the middle of it all. Then we are introduced to a wolf before the police show up.
Chapter Two: We are pushed forward into the present day and hanging out with the MMC, Bryan Vega. I believe he and Stasia (from the first book) are out in the woods playing cat and mouse. Okay, so if you want to understand the second chapter, you will need to read the other books. Even so, I will continue and come back for a revision review if I feel the need to.
[Note: What does nineteenth-century maiden suffering the vapors look like?]
One of my personal pet peeves for any shifter book, romance or not, is when they refer to themselves as werewolves... if they can shift on demand, then no, they are not a werewolf or Lycanthropy they are, in fact, one single thing, Shifter.
Example from chapter two:
Big words coming from a werewolf.
No, shifter.
I didn't find it dramatic, and I am assuming that was the author's aim as it was in italics.
Anywho! They end up going into the protection detail for Kerry, the witness who works at an art gallery, and Bryan was placed to guard her against whoever started that big ole shot out behind the gallery.
Welp that is as far as I have gotten. I lost interest, but I will try and push through before the release to place a solid review.
12.28.2022: Mm, I am trying to get through this book so that I can give you all a good, well-thought-out review. But, it is becoming challenging. There is nothing that is reaching out to hold my attention. It reminds me of every other wolf-shifter-fated-mates book out there. Some of them are well done and entertaining, but for ME, this is not one of them. Again, it may be the way of writing that doesn't hit it for me. I honestly don't know.
1.1.2023: Happy New Year!!!
Now, for the final update: There was a lot going on within the remainder of this book- a ton of action! There are wolves, witches, and magic! There isn't a cliffhanger with the couple, but it's left wanting to know more about the world. After finishing it, I would like to retract most of what I said above. All in all, I would recommend this book to others who enjoy fated mates and shifters!
General Reading Rate: I will give it a three out of five. I loved that it picked up.
